A Jet-filled Halloween!

We've had a lot of Halloween this last week! On Wednesday night we had our Neighborhood Halloween party at a retention basin in our neighborhood. Unfortunately we got there late because Bryan didn't get home from work until a little after 6pm (which is when it started). I dressed up as a witch, Bryan as Dick Cheney, Kaylie as Sleeping Beauty and Kade as a glow-in-the-dark skeleton. But, even though it was the end of October, it was hot. We walked to the party and by the time we got there I was dying of the heat with my witch's hat, hair and stalkings. And Bryan had his full suit on. Plus when we got there, no one else was dressed up besides the kids. So, I took the hat, wig and socks off and Bryan left his mask and suit coat in the stroller. So much for dressing up! But Kaylie did get a kick out of it! She was just a little scared of Bryan in his mask- so it worked out that we had to take everything off! Kaylie was gorgeous with her ringlets! I sat her in front of Monsters Inc. to curl her hair and we only had a few minor altercations! But she was really tired and hungry and by the time we got to the party, all she wanted to do was play on the playground. She didn't want to be bothered by eating but Bryan and I were starving! So Bryan and I took turns watching her on the playground (Bryan's turns were actually a lot longer than mine). Finally we ended up leaving pretty soon after we got there because Kaylie was throwing huge tantrums.
Thursday Bryan and Kaylie carved our pumpkin. She enjoyed getting her hands in the gooey mess of pumpkin seeds and string!
Friday we started trick-or-treating with the McLains, who live one house over, and met up with a large group from our ward. Then we dashed over to my parents' ward trunk-or-treat where Kaylie went from car to car with her Grandpa Burt and Aunt Rachel while Bryan and I ate some amazingly hot chili! It was so hot my nose started to run. Then we bolted on over to Bryan's parents and went down the street to the Phelps' house where the talking pumpkin scared Kaylie. She started to walk towards the talking pumpkin, but when he called her by name and kept talking to her, she turned around and said, "I can't." She was just a little scared. It was pretty funny. But she did end up with a magical princess wand, so she was happy. We went back to Grandma and Grandpa Hancock's house and she loved handing out candy to the other kids. Then from there we flew to see Aunt Tessa at work so she could see their costumes. It wasn't until 9pm that we got home and our Sleeping Beauty wasn't so much a beauty anymore! But she was able to last that long from the blast of sugar she got from the chocolate bar and 2 dum-dums she ate! She was literally skipping to the car at G & G Hancock's house! It was an eventful evening. We enjoyed it, but we are not doing it the same way next year!
